Ensure ZERO downtime in your host transfer!Yes, it can be done!
The only requirement is that you don't delete your current host until your new
one is setup (as guided below). Follow these steps to ensure ZERO downtime and
not lose any business.
1) DO NOT CHANGE YOUR NAMESERVERS JUST YET OR DELETE YOUR CURRENT WEB HOST!
2) Establish a hosting account with us. You'll then be able to access your
new account via the server IP address. Once you do, you'll be given all of
your account information in an email. Follow the directions in that
email to upload all of your files to your new Vantage Server.
3) In your welcome email, you'll get a TEMP link to access your NEW Web
site. Before anything is live, verify that everything is working on your NEW
site (graphics, web pages, links, etc...)
4) Once verified, contact your registrar and change your "name servers" to
those that are mentioned in your activation email.
5) Your site will be updated WORLDWIDE within 24-72 hours. Note: although
you may be appear live on your new server within 12 hours, please allow a
complete 72 hour cycle before you delete your old host.
6) Enjoy your new site and your Vantage web hosting. If you have any
problems during the transfer, please create a support ticket by visiting the
support section, and let us know what step you are struggling with so we can
help you complete the registration process.
Already have a domain? Just want to host with us?
You already have a domain but need web hosting; no problem. Follow the steps
below and you will be on your way to setting up a web hosting account with
Vantage Internet.
A) The first step is to establish a hosting account with Vantage Internet.
B) Once your payment is verified, you will receive an account activation
email. In the email you will find all the usernames and passwords that will
grant you access to the server via an IP. Then use the temp link provided in
the email to view your site.
C) Once you have everything verified, contact the company where you
originally registered your domain name.
D) You will find a pair of DNS (also known as name servers) in your
activation email. You will need to replace your domain name's previous DNS
information with the DNS provided in your email. If you don't have a domain
control panel, which is where you usually can do these changes, please email
or call your registrar and ask them to change your name servers to those
provided to you in your activation email.
E) After the DNS changes are made, your domain will point to your server
hosted by Vantage. This will take 24-72 hours to resolve world wide as every
ISP updates their DNS at different times.
F) If after 48 hours you cannot access your domain via
www.yourdomainname.com, please

make sure your name servers show up as those provided in the activation email.
If they do not, call your original registrar and yell at them!
